BPS: Short Bits per Second. This is a measurement of speed for the Internet.Cable Internet: This is a form of high speed internet that uses existing cable television lines to connect to the internet.
CBR: Short for Constant Bit Rate. A method of encoding audio or video. The Variable Bit Rate method encodes data at a constant rate regardless of the situation.
CODEC: Short of Code/Decode. A computer reference file that allows the computer to Code data into a particular format and decode it back it again into it's original format.
DSL: Short of Digital Subscriber Line. This is a form of high speed internet that uses existing telephone lines to connect to the internet.
FPS: Frames per Second. In video terms, this means how many video frames are being shown per second.
Pixel: The smallest pigment on a computer monitor. When referring to resolution, this number tells you how big the picture is (i.e. 200 Pixels X 300 Pixels)
MP3: Short of MPEG Layer 3. This is a very popular audio format for computers.
Shoutcast: A multiformat music and movie server capable of streaming data to other computers.
TV Tuner Card: A computer expansion card that allows a user to watch TV on their computer. Typical TV Tuner Cards are made by: ATi, Avermedia, and Hauppauge.
VBR: Short for Variable Bit Rate. A method of encoding audio or video. The Variable Bit Rate method constantly adjusts the amount of data stored for a given moment. See also Constant Bit Rate (CBR)
